'Splinter Cell' leading man Tom Hardy jumped straight into the live-action adaptation of Ubisoft's game since he was admittedly a gaming fan. He also revealed that they would probably start shooting the film by next year.

'Splinter Cell' main actor Tom Hardy worked closely with Ubisoft on the development of his character Sam Fisher. He admitted to being a gamer himself and revealed that he was a fan of the video games. He hinted that they would most likely begin shooting the film by 2016.

According to We Got This Covered (http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/assassins-creed-movie-compared-batman-begins-blade-runner/), Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean-Julien Baronnet expressed optimism with attracting Hollywood A-listers to their planned video game live-action adaptations. He said that their future cinematic releases have attracted "intelligent actors" like Michael Fassbender who will be starring in 'Assassin's Creed' and Tom Hardy who is playing lead protagonist for the upcoming 'Splinter Cell' film. Baronnet added that Hardy was a big fan of the world of Splinter Cell as he is a gamer himself and that they worked side-by-side with the actor to help bring his character to life.

An article by Collider (http://collider.com/assassins-creed-movie-blade-runner-batman-begins/)also revealed Ubisoft's strategy in kick starting their video game adaptations by carefully planning out who will play lead characters in their respective films.

Baronnet said, "Usually in Hollywood, when you develop a big film, you start with a script or studio ...We did not do that. We said, "For each film, what is the first decision that we have to take?" In Assassin's Creed, it was obvious that the first decision was the choice of the actor. Who is behind the assassin, who will personify [him]? In Splinter Cell, the same thing, [who] is going to be Sam Fisher? The obsession that we had was to find actors among the best, if not the best." The Ubisoft CEO likened their vision of the films to that of 'Blade Runner' and 'Batman Begins'.

Hardy, who plays former navy SEAL operator and CIA paramilitary ops Sam Fisher, was enthusiastic about his latest project during an interview with The Daily Beast. (http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/09/17/tom-hardy-opens-up-about-celebrities-right-to-privacy-and-rehearsing-in-front-of-his-dogs.html) He said that the film's script is currently being written by Frank John Hughes and that they might begin principal photography by 2016. His character Sam is described as a combat veteran whose specialty is hand-to-hand combat employing various forms of martial arts.

'Splinter Cell' is scheduled for tentative release sometime in 2017. It is based on the action-adventure games of the same name first released in 2002 and soon adapted into novels by author Tom Clancy. The series is considered one of Ubisoft's leading franchises, claiming critical and commercial success in the gaming industry.
